Driftless and Surviving the Tsunami Nominated for Emmys

I'm very excited to announce that two MediaStorm projects I produced and edited have been nominated for the 31st Annual Emmy Awards for News & Documentary.

Driftless: Stories from Iowa by Danny Wilcox Frazier was nominated in the New Approaches to News & Documentary Programming: Documentaries category.

Surviving the Tsunami: Stories of Hope was nominated in the New Approaches to News & Documentary Programming: Current News Coverage category.

Congratulations also go out to my good friend and former colleague Bob Sacha whose MediaStorm collaboration with Reuters, Times of Crisis, was also nominated in the New Approaches to News & Documentary Programming: Current News Coverage category.

The project includes brilliant interactivity designed by Tim Klimowicz.

Driftless Wins Webby for Best Editing

I am thrilled to announce that the 14th Annual Webby Awards named MediaStorm’s Driftless by Danny Wilcox Frazier, which I produced and edited, as the winner in this year's Best Editing for Online Film and Video Category.

Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile websites. The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 650-person judging academy whose members include Martha Stewart, R/GA’s Chief Bob Greenberg, David Bowie, Arianna Huffington and Twitter’s Biz Stone.

“The Webby Awards honors the very best of the Internet,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. “MediaStorm’s achievement is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”

The 14th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 10,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states.

Driftless Wins Third at Best of Photojournalism 2010

I am humbled by MediaStorm's success at this year's Best of Photojournalism competition. Danny Wilcox Frazier’s Driftless, which I produced and edited received third place in BOP's Documentary Video category.

Surviving the Tsunami, a MediaStorm co-production with Reuters and the Red Cross that I also produced and edited picked up second place for News or Feature Multimedia Package.

Family Koctail, a project I produced for MediaStorm's Advanced Multimedia Reporting Workshop was honored with first place in the Feature Video category.

Finally, Hold Out, another piece I produced for the MediaStorm workshop received Honorable Mention in the same category.
